European Parliament voted in favour of CETA

Press release

The Federation of Belgian Chambers of Commerce and CanCham Belux congratulate the European Parliament for the vote today in favour of CETA. This vote gives a strong and important signal to business communities in the EU Member States that final ratification of this innovative and progressive treaty by their national authorities is expected to happen in the coming months.

The Federation of Belgian Chambers of Commerce and CanCham Belux look forward to the provisional application of all economically significant parts of CETA bringing benefits for Belgian and European companies in their business relations with Canadian partners for years to come.

In a changing world, Canada remains a very important and substantial economic partner for Europe, Belgium and its federated entities. As a long-term friend, Canada shares the same democratic values as Europe and has been very committed over the years to uphold them. CETA will offer new perspectives for a solid and healthy long-term economic cooperation with direct benefits not only for enterprises but also for citizens.

The Federation of Belgian Chambers of Commerce and CanCham Belux are convinced that CETA will be beneficial to both the EU and Canada and they will both continue to promote its merits and share its insights until ratification of the treaty and beyond.
